Plenty of laughs, a bit of romance and a nice story that is based on real life events.
A fast living, cynical London music executive (Daniel Mays) heads to a remote Cornish village on a stag weekend where he's pranked by his boss (Noel Clarke) into trying to sign a group of shanty singing fishermen (led by James Purefoy). The film is based on a true story about Port Isaac's Fisherman's Friends, a group of Cornish fishermen from Port Isaac who were signed by Universal Records and achieved a top 10 hit with their debut album of traditional sea shanties. HERITAGE. Although first formulated in England during 1865, the first overseas shipment was to Belgium in 1974. It pretty much turned out exactly as we expected - Not a 10 out of 10 film, but a feel good movie that was well worth watching. The film is based on a true story about Port Isaac's A fast living, cynical London music executive, Danny, reluctantly heads to Cornwall on a colleague’s, Henry's, stag weekend, where he’s pranked by his boss, Troy, into trying to sign a group of shanty-singing fishermen. I wont go into details and risk a spoiler but it is a good mix of drama and comedy. On the eve of retirement a middle class, judgmental snob discovers her husband has been having an affair with her best friend and is forced into exile with her bohemian sister who lives on an impoverished inner-city council estate. We were looking for a film to watch at the local cinema, read the overview and thought we would give this one a go.

Filming commenced on 30 April 2018 on location in Port Isaac, Cornwall and London for five weeks.The film was released on 503 screens on 15 March 2019 in the United Kingdom and debuted at #2 in the UK Box office chart, grossing $1,534,908 in its opening weekend behind global box office phenomenon Noel Clarke, a black British actor, who has a minor role in the film, was credited on the UK poster but his image was not featured.
